Now that you have a basic understanding of how to bet on basketball, let's go over a few basketball betting tips. The most important thing to remember is to bet with your brain not your emotions. Keep informed on every aspect of the game and try not to be swayed by your personal feeling about a team. |

Follow the statistics closely and try to watch for trends. Remember that there's no such thing as a sure bet. Never risk a large portion of your betting capital on any one game. Only bet small percentages around 5%. Your wins and loses will come and go. Don't double up to recover loses or because you seem to be on a winning streak. Whether winning or losing, all streaks will eventually come to an end. |

Don't just look at team statistics. Look for player transfers and injuries as well as any changes in the coaching staff. Also be aware of a team's motivation in a game. If a team has already qualified for the finals they may not play as aggressively as a team in a must-win situation or a team looking to get out of a slump. Winning teams will often get lazy and lose in a big upset. |

Keep in mind that bookmakers set the lines in order to keep the wagers balanced on each side. This means that teams with large followings can often have skewed lines. This can make a bet on the opposing team much more attractive. Professional bettors look for and take advantage of this sort of opportunity. Don't fall in with the crowd and just place your wagers on the favored team. |
